Dear People of Cameroon, Dear comrades of the german SDF, Dear friends of Cameroon, dear advocates of democracy,
On the 26th May 1990 the SDF party was founded. Many freedom fighters were killed by the cameroonian military when they decided to demonstrate for freedom, justice and democracy.
On the occasion of the upcomming presidential elections in Cameroon, SDF Germany would like to remember this historic date and remember the fallen freedom fighters.
After 44 years of independence, 22 years of veiled dictatorship and 14 years of restricted and pressurised democracy the people of Cameroon still live with continuus difficulties and a growing sense of despair. The regime of President Biya has forced the people of Cameroon into adversity in order to consolidate his ultra-conservative dictatorship. In this way the despairing and disorientated youth of Cameroon are being forced to flee abroad with no view to returning.
What a disaster for such a glorious land as Cameroon
? Citizens of Cameroon currently living abroad are not allowed to vote in the forthcoming presidential elections, although this possible for citizens of other african countries.
? In Cameroon the winner is known before voting takes place, because he has instigated and manipulated this election.
? Registration of voters on the voting list is decided on ethnic and anti-democratic reasons.
? One asks the question, what can the President Paul Biya, offer the nation of Cameroon after 22 years of political and economical standstill?
We say No, No and No!
? We say No to any type of discrimination and Yes to the right to vote of all citizens of Cameroon, including those who live abroad.
? We demonstrate for the immediate and condition-free creation of an independent election committee to guarantee a free, transparent and democratic election, as well as long lasing peace in Cameroon.
? It would be impossible for President Paul Biya to fix in the next 7 years everything that he has destroyed in the last 22. His 22 years in office have been a totoal catastrophe for Cameroon. He must give up his position in order to allow the people of Cameroon to safeguard their future.
? We protest in order to gain the attention of the International Community. We ask the European Union to no longer support a dictatorship which does not have the welfare if the population as it?s aim.
People of Cameroon, dear friends of Cameroon, We have watched this sadness for many years and now is the time to act. Let us fight together for a free and democratic cameroon with a blooming future.
It lives in democracy It lives in Cameroon Power to the People!
